Methodology

Sample: for each of the 27 EU countries, the first 200 websites on the country’s own domain (such as .de or .gr) among the 10,000 websites that Chrome users in that country visited most in 08/2026. One website per registered domain, secure (https) websites only. Source: Chrome UX Report (Google, CC BY 4.0).

Our crawler identifies itself as RankProofBot and follows each website’s robots.txt. Once a month it reads robots.txt, /llms.txt and the homepage, one request at a time per website.

Only homepages we could read are measured. Left out: 959 behind bot protection, 225 unreachable, 142 whose robots.txt asks crawlers to stay out, 2 not HTML and 318 built entirely with JavaScript.

The checks read the HTML the server sends, without running JavaScript, and cover five of the six most common failures in the WebAIM Million report. Low-contrast text needs a rendered page and is not measured. The checks find barriers; they cannot prove that a page is accessible.

No website is named: only totals per country are stored and published.
