# Keyword Density Checker

https://rankproof.eu/tools/keywords-keyword-density

## Short answer

Analyze keyword frequency and density across your page content.

## What It Does

Analyzes the text on your page and computes 1-, 2-, and 3-word phrase frequencies as a percentage of total content. Returns the top phrases grouped by length, plus an over-optimization warning when your single most-repeated word makes up an unusually large share of the text.

## How It Works

1. Enter your page URL or paste raw text
2. We extract the page text and tokenize it into 1-, 2-, 3-word phrases
3. Count occurrences and compute density % per phrase
4. Return a sorted table and flag it if your single most-repeated word looks over-optimized

## Sample input + output

INPUT

```text
url: https://rankproof.eu/tools
keyword: "rankproof"
```

OUTPUT

```text
primary: "rankproof"
occurrences: 31 / 1,847 words = 1.7%   OK
  in <title>:           1
  in <h1>:              1
  in <h2>:              4
  in body text:        21
  in alt text:          4
stuffing risk: low (target ≤ 3%)       OK
```

## Why It Matters

Keyword density is not a ranking factor, and repeating a word too often reads badly and can look like keyword stuffing, which Google's spam policies cover. Density is still useful for one thing: it shows what a page actually emphasizes, so you can spot a gap between your target topic and the words you use most.

## Who Uses This

- **Content Editor**: Check whether your main keyword appears among the top phrases and how large a share of the text it takes.
- **SEO Specialist**: Look into pages that do not rank for their target keyword; sometimes the keyword is not among the page's most-used terms at all.
- **Content Auditor**: Quick visual of any URL's topical focus — useful for competitive content analysis.

## Frequently Asked Questions

### What's the ideal keyword density?

There is no ideal number. This tool warns when your most-repeated word passes 4% of the text and marks it as over-optimized above 6%. Write naturally and use the list to check focus.

### Is keyword density still a ranking factor?

Not directly. Google weighs how important a term is in context and recognises the entities behind it. But density is still a useful sanity check for content focus.

### What about LSI keywords?

LSI is a marketing term, not a real Google factor. Use related-keywords analysis to find topically associated terms.

### Should I aim for exact keyword match?

No. Natural variation (singular and plural, synonyms, related terms) reads better, and Google understands related wording.

### Does it count navigation and footer text?

Yes. It reads all text in the page body except script and style tags, so navigation, footer links and text hidden with CSS can skew the results on pages with little content.
