# Social Meta Checker

https://rankproof.eu/tools/content-social-meta

## Short answer

Verify Open Graph and Twitter Card meta tags for social sharing.

## What It Does

Inspects your page's Open Graph tags (og:title, og:description, og:image, og:url, og:type) and Twitter Card tags (twitter:card, twitter:title, twitter:description, twitter:image). Returns a pass/fail check on the core tags and a preview of up to 8 of the tag values found, shortened.

## How It Works

1. Enter a page URL or paste its HTML
2. We fetch the raw HTML and extract OG + Twitter Card meta tags
3. Check whether the core OG tags (title, description, image) and a Twitter Card type are present
4. Return a pass/fail checklist and a shortened preview of the tag values found

## Sample input + output

INPUT

```text
url: https://rankproof.eu/tools
```

OUTPUT

```text
Open Graph tags found: 5/5
Twitter Card tags found: 2/4
  og:title         pass
  og:description   pass
  og:image         pass
  twitter:card     pass
og:title = "Pricing — RankProof"
og:image = /og/tools.png
```

## Why It Matters

When a link is shared, platforms build the preview card from these tags. Without og:image, many platforms show a small or plain link that is easy to scroll past. Check the tags before launch and after every template change.

## Who Uses This

- **Content Marketer**: Before scheduling a launch post, confirm the title, description and image tags are set.
- **Brand Manager**: Check key product and landing pages for consistent share titles and images.
- **Developer**: Spot-check social tags after every CMS template change — catch the day a regression strips og:image from new posts.

## Frequently Asked Questions

### What's the right og:image size?

1200×630 px (1.91:1 ratio). Minimum 600×315. Maximum 8MB. Use HTTPS URL. JPEG or PNG.

### Do I need both Open Graph and Twitter Cards?

Open Graph covers most platforms (LinkedIn, Slack, Facebook). X (formerly Twitter) falls back to Open Graph for most fields, but it needs twitter:card to choose a card type such as summary_large_image.

### Why isn't my preview updating?

Platforms cache previews. Facebook's Sharing Debugger and LinkedIn's Post Inspector let you refresh them; other platforms refresh on their own after a while.

### Should the og:title match the page title?

Usually, but it does not have to. The page title is written for search results; og:title can be written for people scrolling a feed.

### What about LinkedIn-specific tags?

LinkedIn uses standard Open Graph. Test via LinkedIn Post Inspector.
