# AI Cite-Worthiness Scorer

https://rankproof.eu/tools/ai-cite-worthiness-scorer

## Short answer

Checks the page signals often seen in content that gets quoted: author and dates, sources, question headings, markup, depth. A checklist, not a citation forecast.

## What It Does

Checks a page against on-page signals that pages quoted by AI answer engines often share: author and date markup, statistics, links to .gov, .edu and .int sites, question-style headings, Article markup, length, links to about and contact pages, site-level markup, how recently the page was updated, readability, named entities, headings that match the main topics, and tables or lists. The score is the share of the checklist points the page earns. It reads the page HTML only and calls no AI engine.

## How It Works

1. Enter a page URL or paste its HTML
2. We read the HTML and its JSON-LD and measure each signal
3. Each signal earns up to a fixed number of points; the score is the share of the available points, graded A to F
4. Return the score, the status of each signal and the three fixes worth the most points

## Why It Matters

AI answer engines tend to cite pages that answer a question clearly, back their claims with sources and show who wrote them and when. This score is a checklist of those traits, not a prediction: no engine publishes how it picks sources, and the point values are RankProof's own weighting rather than the result of a study. Use it to find missing basics, then judge the content itself.

## Who Uses This

- **Content lead**: Before publishing, check that an article shows its author, a date, sources and a clear structure.
- **SEO consultant**: Compare a page you want cited with a page that already is, and see which signals differ.
- **Editor**: During a content refresh, start with the fixes worth the most points on each article.

## Frequently Asked Questions

### Does a high score mean AI engines will cite my page?

No. It shows how many traits common to cited pages your page has. Whether an engine cites it also depends on the question, the other sources available and the engine itself.

### Why do .gov, .edu and .int links count?

Links to official and academic sources are a simple way to show where your facts come from. The check counts links to those domains only, so other good sources do not add points.

### Where does the recency signal look for a date?

In the dateModified field of the page's JSON-LD. A date shown only as visible text does not count.

### Does it work in any language?

Readability uses the formula made for the text's language (English, German, French, Spanish or Italian) and is left out for Greek, which has none. A question heading is one that ends in "?" (";" in Greek). The statistic and named-entity patterns are tuned for English, so those two signals are less reliable in other languages.

### Does it see content added by JavaScript?

No. It reads the HTML as delivered, before any scripts run.
